We have satisfactorily concluded a review of the results of the spin-induced-quadrupole-moment-test for 6 events from O3b. We select events based on two criteria. (a) The inspiral only SNR is greater than or equal to 6, and (b) The effective spin parameter posteriors exclude zero at 68% credible interval. The events are listed below (and are signed off with black check marks). S200115j has not been considered for this test as this is an NSBH binary candidate and we currently do not have reliable studies on testing the BBH nature of NSBH candidates.

The test has been performed using a LALInference based code, and the details of code and its review can be found on this page. For all events, the IMRPhenomPv2 waveform has been used as a baseline model. This is contrary to the waveform models used for the Production PE and other tests which used waveforms that include higher modes. The results for each event we signed off are consistent with GR as expected. The spin-induced quadrupole moment parameter occasionally rails against the prior bounds, particularly for the less-constraining events -- this is a generic feature also seen in the injections. Correlations between the various parameters are consistent with what has been observed in injection studies. We also note caveats associated with events S191216ap and S191129u where we see bimodality in the posterior of some parameters. While bimodality can be attributed to the lack of higher modes in the baseline waveform model it may need further investigation.
