Installation requires gcc, make, etc. but these are not installed by conda environment
I just set up a new system (Arch... btw) and followed the install guide. I hit the problem that
gcc was not installed (I hadn't installed it yet) so the
pip install -e . part failed with
error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1.
How will we handle this for end users eventually - can we distribute conda packages with pre-built Cython binaries for each platform, or do we need to do the compilation on the end user's machine and so ensure the environment provides all the necessary build tools?
