gstlal install dependency on ligo-lw-bin?

gstlal (1.8.0) depends on (among others) python3-ligo-lw and ligo-lw-bin, both >= 1.6.0. Which of the executables provided by ligo-lw-bin are used by gstlal? Can this dependency be removed?

Rationale: With python-ligo-lw 1.7.1, the ligo-lw-bin is no longer provided (as the maintainer prefers the package name python3-ligo-lw-bin).
