Fixes issues with checkpointing

Gregory Ashton requested to merge sort-out-checkpointing into master
  1. Reduces redundant code to just the HTCondor suggested checkpoints (from James Clarke)
  2. Make the exit signal a variable and switch to 77 based on James' suggestion
